There is a wide variety of materials that can be used as a kitchen countertop from granite to quartz to concrete. Some of the more unpopular choices include laminate and tile. However, which ever option someone goes with, the process of choosing and installing can be confusing. The first step is to consider the aesthetics and what colours and textures would suit. 

The next consideration should be functionality. People's lifestyles vary and if you have children a low maintenance surface such as quartz would be ideal. On the other hand, granite is a very popular choice but requires slightly more maintenance.
